OUR STORY
Our Background
Our transition into distilling was shaped by a profound family tragedy that made us reconsider our life's direction. As a diver (Tony) and a Remote Area Nurse (Rebecca) we decided to merge our skills in a venture that would allow us to work side by side. Our focus was clear: to create quality spirits, contribute to our community, and promote the beauty of Streaky Bay.
Naming our Australian made copper pot still 'Cyrel' after a dearly missed family member, we embarked on this journey with a commitment to sustainability. We embrace the challenges of using green energy and renewable resources in our production processes, aiming to make a positive impact locally and environmentally. Join us as we blend tradition with innovation in every bottle.
OUR PASSION
Eco-Friendly Practices
High Quality Spirits
Supporting Australian Made
At our Streaky Bay distillery, sustainability is key. We power our operations as much as possible with solar energy, significantly reducing our carbon footprint in a sector known for high electricity and water usage. Our innovative recycling system allows us to reuse cooling water, minimising water consumption. We also use recycled cardboard for packaging to lower waste and emissions. By sourcing local botanicals when available, we support local agriculture and reduce transportation impacts. These practices ensure that our distillery not only produces fine spirits but also promotes environmental responsibility.
High Quality Standards
Only the Best Ingredients
At our distillery, we prioritise sustainability by sourcing local South Australian ingredients, including unique elements like abalone shell, saltbush, and a variety of citrus fruits such as limes, lemons, and mandarin. This approach not only supports local growers and reduces carbon emissions from long-distance transport but also ensures that the botanicals we use are fresher and more flavourful. Using these locally sourced ingredients, we capture the essence of our region in every bottle while contributing positively to the local economy and reducing our environmental impact. This commitment to local sourcing demonstrates our dedication to both quality and sustainability.
First-Rate Materials
Guaranteed Excellence
Our distillery is dedicated to supporting local businesses and craftsmanship. Our 300 litre Copper Pot still, the heart of our operations, is crafted from Australian copper and was sourced from a manufacturer in New South Wales, ensuring both quality and durability. We rely on local tradespeople for the installation and ongoing maintenance of our equipment, fostering community ties and economic support within our region. This commitment to local sourcing not only enhances our operational efficiency but also contributes to the local economy, embodying our dedication to community and sustainability.
